This information is from and about the LIGHTHOUSE PROJECT PALM SUNDAY PATH – a nationwide protest action against authoritarianism and white Christian nationalism. The effort is supported by United Church of Christ Conferences. 

“As Christians, we stand for healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and welcoming the stranger. We stand for telling the truth and honoring the dignity and worth of every child of God. As we live through a period of rapidly consolidating authoritarian power in our country, the dominating politics of hate, fear, greed, and division, are violating our values and tearing our country and democracy apart. We are living in an emergency, and we need to decide that now is our time to act in a new way. Now is our March on Washington moment. Now is our Confessing Church moment.”

In response, a broad coalition of clergy, congregations, denominational leaders, and faith-based organizations are coming together. Together, they are launching a path to mass actions for Christians across the country.

The Palm Sunday Path is a welcome opportunity and needed action

The local group Detroiters Against Christian Nationalism has consistencies with the Lighthouse Project Palm Sunday Path. In one of our recent meetings, we mentioned the harsh reality of needing a Confessing Church. Together, Christendom is stronger; we can take such a stance and turn the tide. It needs to be a deliberate decision.

This big, long-brewing problem is much more than any one man

Wayward politics (authoritarianism) and bad religion (nationalism) are co-dependent. The fight against them might be inseparable; like battle-fronts in a war. We must guard against relaxing if a some single person or party is stopped. We must be willing to take on root causes if a Christian USA is to prevail. With God, all is possible.
