Love and respect for life was on full display at the Detroit Eastern Market on the last Saturday of July, 2025. You couldn’t help but see it in at least two distinct ways. Love for life is always there in the form of plants and vegetables and greenery. But the other is novel – a new exhibition of the relentless stand against genocide and starvation in Gaza.
A noisy new attention-getter, these common pots and pans. Points to the critical need for food under an evilly-made starvation operation. New folks were able to join the ranks and assume an important role and deliver an important message. These available tools enable the people to step out and support on a moment’s notice.
Love for life banged out on pots and pans
The Detroit Eastern Market has a steady drip of people and organizations taking to the streets. They make a case and take a stance, looking to motivate and involve people. But on Saturday, it was a new resolve and strength of purpose. People gathered and voiced their concerns for the starving people of Gaza. Then, they peacefully marched up and down Russell, the main drag of the market. Beating on pots and pans through it all. Slowing traffic, and making the message heard.
The usual characters plus +++
Americans are resisting the oppressive and unjust exercise of power by our government. At the same time, our failing government is methodically taking down every form and act of resistance. This is the way of tyranny. It’s unsure where it will end, but it is heartening to see people energized to take a stance. Thank you to everyone willing and brave to make a peaceful stand. Taking the stand takes a toll. Thank you for all you do and give.
There is energy in holding the moral high ground. The caring person gets strength by being right and standing against the injustice of Israel-US crimes against humanity. To take this high ground requires bravery, because in today’s misguided America, you either give yourself over or you are a target. Having no stance is conceding, and that will not save you.
Pots and pans presented an opportunity for new faces to make some noise at the Detroit Eastern Market on Saturday. They joined in with “regulars” who have been making the stand for Gaza for years.

America is on track to be totally repressed (without freedoms and representation) unless there is substantial change, a true course correction. It starts with every individual, each has the choice of resistor versus victim. Be not a victim.
Thanks to the Detroit Eastern Market
We are in the hot throes of summer. Thanks to the Market for still being “of, by, and for” the people. Stay strong.
If tyranny continues unchecked, everyone who does not openly bow to Trumpism can lose whatever they have. Democrats are also core to the problem. “I’m a Zionist” Biden was the first to make a strong new stance against students, and he was in blind untethered support of Israel’s wars, which are still killing children every day. If the political establishment/oligarchs are not stopped, crimes against humanity will trickle down to your neighborhood, unless you are a 1%er.
We are experiencing man’s fall to corruption, going evil, again.

Our American mess is “Christian nationalist blessed” by the SCOTUS. The takedown of America will keep rambling on, unless the feckless Israeli-US imperialism efforts, of which Gaza is a symptom, are stopped. Would that it ceases through wisdom, and not endless end-times war.
A Detroit Eastern Market prize
On Saturday, the greenery selection was exceptionally good for late July. This Northern White-Cedar Arborvitae was freshly balled-up and perfectly shaped. It barely fit in my SUV, touching the front and back windows.
